Surprising our SUBSCRIBER with his DREAM CAR BUILD! (Full Transformation): 2014 Subaru BRZ

Alex was recently announced as the winner for throtl Dream Build #2! As the winner of #throtldreambuild2, Alex got his car shipped out to San Diego California to be fully modified by the throtl team. When Alex's car arrived, it was a mostly-stock 2014 Subaru BRZ. As soon as the car arrived at the throtl headquarters, the team immediately got to work on some modifications. Alex's car got the works with some new interior, exterior, and performance-based modifications. Interior Modifications For the interior of the BRZ, we installed a custom black suede headliner, throtl shift knob, and a new audio system from OEM Audio+. The OEM Audio+ system sounds significantly better than the factory audio system. This made it way more enjoyable to listen to music in the BRZ. The Opelite Optics headliner had a space theme with led shooting stars that lit up the roof of the BRZ, adding a nice bit of style to the interior. The new throtl shift knob was the cherry on top for interior modificati...

Building a Modern Day (Fast & Furious) 1998 Eclipse GSX - Part 15

As you guys know, we have long been working on our modern-day (Fast & Furious) 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, and now we are very close to finishing this project. We are looking forward to debuting the Eclipse at SEMA 2021 at the Meguiar's Booth!

Installing New KDN Shifter Kit

We start today’s episode by installing a Pioneer Stereo System, which we use in most of our cars. Along with it, we needed to install our new KDN shifter kit, which we purchased through Boost & Performance that specializes in Eclipse and EVO parts. The kit included a staging brake, shift cables, and a base plate.

The first step to installing the shifter was to get all the shifter cables out, put in new shift cables, and attach them to the transmission. First, we mounted the base plate for the shifter and then the KDN shifter along with the staging brake. Subsequently, we moved to install the center console and put trim panels around it.

Installing Disk Brakes from Wilwood

We received the disk brakes package from Wilwood, explicitly made for Eclipse. While it is certainly not a one-off brake kit, Wilwood did a unique blue coat on the caliper to match our roll cage. The kit includes front calipers, a two-piece floating rotor, stainless steel brake lines for the front with all the hardware, brake caliper mounts, and brake pads.

We started blowing the old brakes off by removing the pads, calipers, rotors, etc., from the front. Then we moved to install the new stuff in the reverse order. It was super simple as everything went together properly. Next, we bled the brake system and the clutch using Motul brake fluid.

Fuel System Installation

While Mickey was working on the air intake system for the intercooler and the turbo, Quinn and Ricky started working on the fuel system. We had an E85 tank to fuel rail STM kit, full of fittings and vibrant performance parts.

As Ricky was figuring out the lines and connectors, Quinn moved to assemble the line and ran it underneath the car, making the way up front to the fuel rail.

A Roundup of This Episode

So, here’s a quick roundup of this episode. We installed the shifter, center console, stereo deck, Wilwood brakes and bled them. We are on track to have the Eclipse ready before the 2021 SEMA Show.

Check out the progress for yourself in the video below!

We have also received the wheels for the Eclipse that look amazing, and we already did the fitment check, and they fit perfectly! You’ll have to wait for the next episode to see that.
